LP.org poll of the day

In Civil Liberties, Constitutional Rights, Libertarian, Libertarian Party-US, Politics, War on September 18, 2008 at 5:18 pm

The LP.org poll of the day today is a good one: “Which of these issues should the Libertarian Party be MOST focused on during this election?”

The choices:

  • Reducing the tax burden on all Americans
  • The restoring of our freedoms curtailed by the Bush administration
  • Reducing the size of Government and restraining out of control spending
  • Getting our troops out of Iraq and Afghanistan
  • Restoring faith in our economy
    1. How about:

“Restoring a sound foundation to our economy”

      or

“Restoring sound money to our economy”

Faith? Restoring faith is a function of restoring sanity and soundness.

    2. Disagree that’s a good poll. WTF is “faith in our economy”?

      – Comrade C.

    3. A one question poll would suffice:

“Should the federal government discontinue all interventions in to the economy?” (my answer ought to be obvious)

      The lame poll choices given-

Reducing the tax burden on all Americans
The restoring of our freedoms curtailed by the Bush administration
Reducing the size of Government and restraining out of control spending
Getting our troops out of Iraq and Afghanistan
      Restoring faith in our economy

is typical of the conservative stranglehold on the national office.

As Michael Cloud so succinctly put it, if “we” ask the wrong questions, “they” don’t have to worry about the answers.

    4. Here would be substitute poll choices, which would reflect “real” libertartian positions:

For – Reducing the tax burden on all Americans
replace with – Eliminating the tax burden on all Americans.

For – The restoring of our freedoms curtailed by the Bush administration
replace with – The restoring of our freedoms curtailed by every previous administration

For – Reducing the size of Government and restraining out of control spending
replace with – Reducing the size of Government to its constitutional limits, and ELIMINATING unconstitutional spending

For – Getting our troops out of Iraq and Afghanistan
replace with Getting our troops out of EVERY foreign country

For – Restoring faith in our economy
replace with – Restoring the free market economy

Doesn’t anybody else see how watered down the LP has become with such lame poll questions as a symptom of this?

    5. And where are the poll questions about “civil” liberties . . . ending the war on drugs, etc? Oh right, such a question doesn’t jive with the Barr campaign’s conservative agenda!

    6. Looking at these “lame” poll choices, I simply don’t understand how Barr and his LNC apologists have a problem with Ron Paul’s consensus/4 plank “platform” and collaboration with Baldwin, McKinney and Nader? Barr and his apologists simply talk out of both sides of their mouth!

    7. They’re deciding what to focus on NOW?!
