LNC Meeting September 6-7

In Libertarian, Libertarian Party-US, Libertarian Politics 2008, Politics on August 5, 2008 at 3:22 pm

The next LNC Meeting is scheduled as follows:

Saturday, September 6, 2008:  8:00 am – 6:00 pm

Sunday, September 7, 2008:    8:00 am – 2:00 pm

The meeting will be held in Arlington, Virginia at the Hyatt Regency Crystal City in the Jefferson Room, located on the third floor of the conference center.  A light continental breakfast will be available in the meeting room beginning at 7:30 a.m.

For those who don’t travel a lot, “light continental breakfast” means that you probably want to get some real food before attending.

For reservations, call the hotel at 800-233-1234 and mention that you are attending the Libertarian Party Meeting, group reservation code LBTN.  The group rate is $99 per night, and a block of rooms has been reserved for September 5th through 8th.  It is unclear whether the group rate is available to non-LNC members, but it’s worth a shot since the meeting is open to interested observers.

If you run into problems with reservations, or are in need of special accommodations, the concierge is Andrew Riley, telephone (703) 413-6753 or email ariley [at] hyatt.com

The LNC will be given a tour of the conference center as a possible location for a future convention.  If interested in the tour, the group taking the tour will meet at 5:30 in the Lobbibar.

The hotel also has a free shuttle service for guests.

At least one LFV contributor will be attending, and will report on the meeting here on LFV.

  1. Group rates have been honored at other hotels in the past for non-LNC members. There is no reason to believe that the rate wouldn’t be honored in DC, however it is likely that the reservation block will be full at this point in time.

There are, of course, a lot of hotels in the area. I don’t know what rates are at other locations, but there should be a reasonably priced choice within a few miles. (A word of warning for those driving to avoid the air-gestapo: the hotel we’re staying at charges $23/night for parking)

  2. Are there events for non-LNC members who are members of the party?

  3. “Are there events for non-LNC members who are members of the party?”

Isn’t that what bars are for?

  4. Is the agenda for the meeting public yet?

    MHW

  5. Hee. No, I just remember that during my brief appearance at an LNC meeting when I worked for LPHQ, there didn’t seem to be anyone there but LNC members and staff. Since I’m right here in D.C. anyway, I’d drop by if there was something to see or do, but I wouldn’t want to get in the way.

  6. I’d say that meeting would be a good time/place to overthrow Barr/Root & install a fusion ticket & win the friggin election. With all due respect & decorum & pursuant to party bylaws & state & federal laws & regulations of course. Radicals & revolutionaries you say?

  7. I expect the vote to overthrow Barr/Root and install a fusion ticket will be zero to zero, with Milnes absent, but the the meeting minutes will probably fail to mention that Milnes was absent.

  8. If you can get the agenda, please publishh it? I haven’t seen it yet.

    I suspect it’s not finished . . .

And which contributor will be there? Peter?

  9. wes benedict, just thought I’d put a few seeds of sedition out there.

  10. reactionary wes defending the lnc. whoda thunk?

    2x

And which contributor will be there?

Susan Hogarth has indicated that she has plans to go.

  13. Hi, Rachel and Michael. I’m sorry, I don’t have an agenda at this point. When I get one, I will post it.

As for the attending contributors, I will let them speak for themselves. 🙂
