Press release from Jake Porter Media:

Saint Joseph Telegraph | June 5, 2008

Jake Porter, a May 2008 graduate of AIB College of Business in Des Moines, IA. took over this week as the new Business Manager for the Saint Joseph Telegraph.

Porter, 20, formerly of Princeton, MO. will also be serving the paper as Web Master.

Porter’s recent position was Chief of Staff for George Phillies, an unsuccessful candidate for the Libertarian presidential nomination.

“I’m looking forward to getting acquainted with the city and meeting the people of St. Joseph,” Porter said.

“I can see a need for a strong weekly paper in St. Joseph and intend to do my part to see the Telegraph expand and better serve the people.”

Congratulations, Jake!

  1. Nice.

  2. There are few people with the intelligence and dedication of Jake Porter. Congrats, Jake!

  3. Congrats to Jake! What a fine young man he’s become since HoT.

  4. BIG UP, BIG UP.

  5. Nice, Jake and do well. Congrats all around.

  6. I would like to add that the newspaper is owned by an elected Libertarian, who I’m proud to call my friend.

  7. Congratulations, Jake!

As Jason mentions, the Telegraph was recently acquired by Mike Bozarth — a long-time Libertarian Party activist and elected member of the St. Joseph city council.

I’ve known Mike for many years and consider him something of a role model for, among other things, managing to remain both principled AND politically successful. He was also one of the first people who pulled me (by example, not by saying it) toward “left libertarianism.” It’s great to see a Libertarian of Mike’s quality as publisher of a city newspaper, and even better to see him using that position to provide young Libertarians with opportunities to learn the news business.

  8. Rock on!

  9. Oh snap. Mike Bozarth is actually Richard Viguerie’s illegitimate adopted son.

No wonder Jake supported Barr after George was eliminated.

    The plot thickens.

  10. Mike’s a good guy. He was supporting Gravel until Gravel got eliminated.
