Some thoughts about the LP convention.

I’d like to have some LFV bloggers on the ground. All of us, if at all possible-treat it as a meetup and a journalistic thing. But I’d like to plan for it NOW, instead of rocking it like HoT and being all “THERE’S A CONVENTION OMGWTFBBQ WHO’S THERE LET’S GET HIS TAKE.” Which worked really well, everything considered, but then again it was HoT. They could get away with that shit.

So far Chaz (C.E. Oberg, but I give up trying to refer to him with a monogram, it’s so… weird) and I have plans to go. It’d be sweet if everyone could come up.

Basically my plans are tentative, but they go like this. I live in Chadron, Nebraska. I know you don’t know where that is, so with MS Paint my state-of-the-art cartographic equipment, I made you all a map.

So you can see that Chadron’s not that far away from Denver. Six hours. We could all get a hotel room or two for when we’re down there for the weekend, and I could put up people who’d have to arrive early or leave late. Even though Chadron has an airport, I wouldn’t recommend flying in through there… it’s actually cheaper to fly to some banana republics in South America than it is to fly into this town. Either go through Rapid City, SD or Denver itself… but yes. I live in a small but cozy place and the hotels here in Chadron are pretty cheap as well.

We could cover the convention live for LFV… I’d syndicate my own personal coverage for Third Party Watch as well, and those of you with other blogs could do the same for those. We could actually meet in person, because it’s nice to know people in the flesh and so far I’ve only met Chaz. And we could get severely fucking blitzed. Actually, that’d be the best part.

Oh yeah… and this isn’t just for blog authors here. The offer extends to any readership that’d seriously be considering this as well.

Oh, and we could also plan to raid the Democrats since their donkey show’ll be in town too. Dunno about the timing for that though, whether it’ll be the same weekend or what.

What say you, kids? Fucking badass or what?

  1. I’m most definitely in.

  2. If you can bumrush the donkey show it will be pretty incredible. Maybe take signs and picket their piss-poor antiwar record.

  3. Bad news guys, the Donkey show will be in late August, several months after the LP.

I don’t make plans even close to this far ahead, but there’s always a good chance I’ll be at the LP convention, at which case certainly the LFV hangout sounds like a good idea.

  4. And yes, a protest would be a good idea, but unless there’s Colorado petitions kicking that summer it would have to be a separate trip, and I imagine that would be even more the case for the rest of you….

  5. I’ll be going to Denver. I might help on the Convention committee after this semester ends. I really would like to see us get a bloggers suite there. Maybe we can get some libertarian hotties to pose for our calendar by the pool there? Do we have to get em drunk first?

  6. Leon Phelps says it’s a great way to start a beautiful weekend.

  7. Sounds awesome. We’ve got Nigel, Chris, Titanium (what’s your real name?) and maybe Paulie.

I don’t think we’ll try to make a concerted effort to hit up the Democrats, but I’ll go there myself at least and see what I can do.

  8. My real name is a secret – but you’ll soon figure it out – just ask Mich.

  9. At my age I fall asleep early and won’t be able to make it ;)

  10. Think of it as getting up really early. Work your way up from 5 AM to 4 AM to 3 AM
and by the time of the convention you can have yourself in shape to get up for the day at say Midnight or 1 AM.
